FILLING THE DUTCHTUB

The Dutchtub is easy to fill by connecting a garden hose to the turbo valve. The Dutchtub is easily filled via the turbo valve by connecting it to a garden hose. A full tub contains about 650 litres of water.

LIGHTING THE FIRE

Inside the spiral you find a heating basket, the heat source for the water. Just light a fire with some wood inside the heating basket. When it’s warm this might be unnecessary and the Dutchtub can be used as a cold, refreshing bath.

HEATING THE WATER EFFICIENTLY

The Dutchtub is heated through natural circulation of the water. The water at the bottom of the tub will be sucked into the spiral where it’s heated by the fire. The warm water then rises and flows out of the spiral at the top of the tub. The water needs to be stirred every now and then for the warm water to be evenly distributed throughout the tub. Depending on the circumstances it takes about 2 hours for the water to reach  a temperature of 38 degrees.

MAINTAINING THE TEMPERATURE

The double wall of the tub ensures a warm bath without much effort or wood. If you want to keep the temperature of the water at 38 degrees, you need extra wood. One bag of wood will keep the water at this temperature for about 4 hours.

COOLING DOWN THE WATER

To cool down the water, stop adding extra wood to the fire in the basket. Another way to cool down the Dutchtub is by placing the heating basket higher up the spiral, so you don’t heat the entire spiral with the fire.

COOKING IN THE DUTCHTUB

The fire of the Dutchtub is multifunctional: it can be used to prepare food as well! The included wok allows you to prepare different meals on the fire. Food and drinks can be served in the tub on the integrated serving platter with bottle holder.
